An arrest decision about Attorney General William Barr just dropped, and Trump has been notified. Washington is in an uproar over the news and everyone is wondering what will happen next.
In a major blow to Democrats, the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced that they will not prosecute Attorney General Barr or Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross because the House vote taken to hold them in criminal contempt isn’t actionable.
“The Department of Justice’s long-standing position is that we will not prosecute an official for contempt of Congress for declining to provide information subject to a presidential assertion of executive privilege,” said Deputy AG Jeffrey Rosen.
This means two things: 1) That the DOJ is simply saying that it’s impossible to prosecute Barr and Ross because Congress is asking for information they are not legally allowed to disclose; and 2) Democrats have lost yet another round.
Maybe Democrats will finally give up the charade and stop grandstanding, but it’s unlikely. They get too much airtime from the likes of CNN, MSNBC, and other mainstream media outlets to throw in the towel now.
We can expect Democrats to concoct even more absurdities as we headed into the 2020 election year. With the White House at stake, we’re about to see an even more unhinged Democratic Party — and Trump is ready for them.
