The Prime Minister of Haiti has revealed that he was the target of an assassination attempt by unidentified gunmen on January 1, 2022.
The armed men targeted Ariel Henry as he was coming out of a Church on New Year’s Day, when armed men who were hiding behind a church wall tried to penetrate the security team that was escorting Henry out of the venue.
Henry survived, but at least one other person hit in the attack has passed away, according to TeleSUR, a network funded by Latin American governments.
Being Prime Minister of Haiti is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. Henry was just sworn in during July of 2021, the same month the previous Prime Minister was assassinated.
Not much is known about the killing of the previous prime minister Jovenel Moïse, other than his security forces found him dead as a result of “12 bullet wounds and a gouged right eye.”
