In 2003, Arnold Schwarzenegger ran in a recall election for the position of Governor of California. In case you’ve forgotten, he won, replacing Democrat Gary Davis.
Now, in 2021, conservatives have what is seen as their best chance in many years to take back some control of the democrat-dominated state.
On September 14, 2021, residents of California will vote on whether or not to recall Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, from the position of governor.
Schwarzenegger recently spoke about the feeling around this recall election compared to the one in 2003 that saw a sitting democrat ousted.
“It is exactly the same,” Schwarzenegger said. “The atmosphere is exactly the same when I ran. It’s the same kind of things. The people talk about blackouts, the people are not happy with education, the people are not happy with what’s going on with the inequality in the state.”
“It’s out of control, the situation, and this is why there is anger. It’s the same anger.”
