A state trooper and father-of-three was shot dead while executing a search warrant in East St. Louis, which is a notoriously dangerous neighborhood.
Nicholas Hopkins was shot in an exchange of gunfire while serving a search warrant. The purpose of the warrant was not disclosed.
Three people inside the house were apprehended when they were surrounded.
