President Joe Biden was congratulated after his first year in office by his lowest approval rating to date.
Fifty-seven percent of Americans approved of him when he took office. One year later that number has dropped to 40%. Or under, depending on who you ask.
Biden’s 40% is lower than all recent Democrat presidents. Bill Clinton was at 49.3%, Obama was at 57.2%, and even Jimmy Carter managed 61.9%.
The poll comes from Gallup, and indicates that waning support from independents are the cause of his falling numbers. Just 33% of independents support him now, compared to 50% of them at the start of his presidency.
