Deputy White House Press Secretary Hogan Gidley tried to set Fox News anchor Ed Henry at ease Wednesday when pressed about whether President Donald Trump and Attorney General William Barr are privately at odds over Trump’s tweets about DOJ cases.
Gidley reassured Henry that the two men are on good terms: “They have a good working relationship. He expects Attorney General Barr to execute justice in all matters. He knows he’s doing that.”
Barr spokeswoman Kerri Kupec argued back against reports by anonymous sources that Barr considering resigning, saying he “had no plans” to resign.
Barr said last week that Trump’s tweets made it “impossible” for him to do his job, but Trump responded that he had to use social media because he doesn’t get fair coverage in the press.
Gidley insisted that Trump was not ignoring Barr’s comments about tweeting, but would use his own discretion in deciding whether he had to defend himself.
