Ukrainian security forces working with the CIA have apprehended Al-Bara Shishani, who was ISIS’s minister of war.
Shishani fled to Turkey back in 2016 and made his way to Ukraine in 2018 using a fake passport. Shishani was originally a Georgian citizen.
According to Ukrainian Press Secretary Elena Gitlyanskaya, “The terrorist continued to coordinate activities of special branches of ISIS…while in Ukraine.”
While its good news to see someone like Shishani behind bars, its a reminder of the danger that Islamic extremism poses.
ISIS may be dead as a state, but the ideology behind it lives on and there are cells of terrorists all over the globe that still pose a threat.
President Trump would do well to stay aware of the threat that terror cells pose to the United States. In the meantime, however, we can enjoy some good news.
