A concealed permit holder shot and killed a man who was robbing his restaurant in Highland Park, Michigan.
The restaurant owner used the act of handing over cash to the robber to buy time to get his gun, then emptied his intmagazine into the robber, killing him before he could also rob the bartender.
Police are looking at the shooting as defensive handgun use and don’t plan to charge the shooter.
Michigan state law allows anyone 21 or older to get a concealed carry permit if they haven’t been convicted of certain crimes.
A new law proposed in May would allow gun owners to carry without a license except in gun-free zones, where a special license would be needed.
