Former National Intelligence Director James Clapper just did it on national television. The White House is shellshocked by this news, but Clapper has more to worry about now.
Appearing on CNN, the anti-Trump bureaucrat said “it’s really regrettable” that President Trump and his supporters are pushing for the whistleblower’s “unmasking, which I think is a breach of faith and trust.”
He went on to say how this “will have a chilling effect, clearly, on others who observe wrongdoing,” but there’s at least one problem here: The whistleblower reportedly did not have firsthand knowledge of the Trump-Ukraine phone call.
Furthermore, the reason why Trump and others have called for the whistleblower to be revealed is to hold Democrats accountable. There is already evidence to suggest that this was yet another setup.
According to a report by investigative journalist Paul Sperry on federal court documents, CIA officer Eric Ciaramella, the alleged whistleblower, is “a registered Democrat held over from the Obama White House.”
Sperry also noted that Ciaramella “worked with former Vice President Joe Biden and former CIA Director John Brennan,” two major Trump critics. It should come as no surprise, then, that Trump and Republicans want to explore further.
