Fox News contributor and former congressman Trey Gowdy said he didn’t know of anyone who believes that Russia would prefer the re-election of President Donald Trump to that of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), the Democrat frontrunner.
“I don’t know anyone who really thinks that Russia prefers Donald Trump to win over ‘comrade’ Sanders,” Gowdy said in reference to a leaked House Intelligence Committee report on a briefing they received last week. “I don’t know a soul that really thinks Russia wants Donald Trump to be the president instead of the guy that honeymooned in Russia.”
Gowdy also pointed out that the same Intelligence Committee that leaked the briefing about election security also believed the Steele Dossier, that Benghazi was because of a video, and that there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.
Gowdy blamed committee chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) for leaking the information about the briefing and said that it never should have been made public.
“They gather information, and they make assessments. Then they give those assessments, but unfortunately, you give them to people like Adam Schiff who leak like sieves. This never should have been made public,” Gowdy said, adding that the leak was why Trump was upset about the briefing.
