Fox News contributor and former congressman Jason Chaffetz said Tuesday that the deep state is terrified that President Donald Trump, Attorney General William Barr, Special Prosecutor John Durham, and Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz will bring the misconduct of the Justice Department during the Russia investigation to light.
“This is the deep state being exposed. These people do not want accountability,” Chaffetz said on Tuesday.
Under current House rules, the Oversight Committee doesn’t have the ability to inspect the 10,000 attorneys at the Department of Justice. Chaffetz said that a voice vote had been passed to allow inspectors general to look at the attorneys.
“They don’t want people peeling back the onion [and] looking under the hood at how these people have operated at the Department of Justice,” Chaffetz said in explaining why Democrats and the media seem so eager to get rid of Barr.
As Barr has already amply demonstrated, he cares about the rule of law and seeks to hold everyone–on the left and right–accountable when they abuse their power. And when one side abuses their power relentlessly, they’re not going to be happy about that.
