Attorney General William Barr will not resign from his post despite calls from Democrats to do, the Department of Justice said.
Democrats tried to make it look like Barr was taking orders from President Donald Trump in reducing the sentencing recommendation for Trump associate Roger Stone, but that did not deter Barr from doing his job.
Trump said he was not involved in the Stone case, although he admits that his tweets about that case and others may be making it harder for Barr to do his job.
Former U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey said on Fox News that a letter from 1,100 former Justice Department employees demanding that Barr resign was “nonsense” and “virtue signaling without the virtue,” and that Barr was “entirely within his rights” to intervene in the case because it was a DOJ matter.
Democrats saw an opportunity to try to get rid of Barr before he goes after their corruption any further, but it failed like all of their efforts to get Trump have failed. I wonder what they’ll try next.
