If anyone should support impeaching President Trump, it’s Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), who has led the push to investigate — and re-investigate — the President’s alleged crimes.
But Schiff, who serves as chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, now sees a more realistic path to removing the POTUS: “Vote his ass out of office.”
Schiff admitted on Friday that, despite his refusal to accept the results of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation as final, he is “not yet there” on impeachment.
Schiff worries that if Congress moves forward with impeachment proceedings, Trump “would likely be acquitted,” sending the wrong message.
Instead, Schiff made clear during an interview with Bill Maher that he is looking to the 2020 election for a Democratic victory over Trump.
“At the end of the day, Bill, there is only one way to deal with this problem, whether we impeach him or not,” Schiff said, “and that is to vote his ass out of office.”
