Seven people were killed and at least 22 injured Saturday when a gunman opened fire at a traffic stop in Midland, Texas and then went on a rampage that ended 20 miles away in Odessa, the Hill reported.
Police initially reported two separate shooters, but later realized that the first gunman had abandoned his vehicle and stolen a U.S. Postal Service vehicle to continue his rampage. He was eventually confronted in a movie theater parking lot in Odessa and killed by police.
At one point, five casualties were reported, but that number quickly rose to seven. Three of those shot were law enforcement officers. The targets after the initial traffic stop appeared to be random.
President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence were aware of the situation and monitoring it. Trump was in Camp David to assist with preparations for Hurricane Dorian on the southeast coast over the weekend.
No other information about the shooter or his motivations was available yet.
