Witness Turns State’s Evidence For Mueller
Federal prosecutors working on a referral from Robert Mueller’s special counsel investigation were expected to file a joint status report in Federal court, in conjunction with the lawyers for an associate of former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort, W. Samuel Patten.
Patten pleaded guilty in August to one charge of illegal lobbying on behalf of the Ukraine government, more specifically for failing to register as a foreign agent.
As part of the plea, Patten admitted to arranging for the purchase of tickets to President Donald Trump’s inauguration for an unnamed Ukrainian oligarch, and had agreed to cooperate with Mueller’s investigation into alleged Russian meddling and “collusion” with the Trump campaign in 2016.
The Washington Times reported that the joint report was filed under seal and is being kept secret, meaning it remains unknown at this point just how cooperative Patten has been with prosecutors, or if he is continuing to cooperate with them on ongoing investigations.
