Top Democrat Resigns Abruptly – It Was Sudden

The abrupt resignation of a high-ranking Democrat has left the Democratic Party reeling as they make preparations for the 2020 election cycle.

Jalisa Washington-Price, chief of staff for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), suddenly resigned after just two months on the job. Before taking this position following the 2018 election, she served the DCCC’s diversity office as national chair.

In a public statement, she said, “My time at the DCCC working to win back the House, while advancing the core values of our party – inclusion, opportunity, and progress – has been an incredible journey.” She did not disclose her next move, but said that she’s “looking forward to continuing to elect Democrats”.

Washington-Price also provided assurances that the DCCC has “a solid team for the 2020 cycle”. But this makes us wonder: If the team is so strong, how can her quick departure be explained? Could there be more going on at the DCCC than is publicly known? Time will tell as we move ever-closer to the next election.
