Supreme Court Decision Reached – It’s Over
Pro-life activists are paying close attention to a new abortion case to reach the Supreme Court, whose 5-4 conservative majority is expected to swing the bench in favor of legal protections for the unborn. But so far, the signs aren’t good.
In a disappointing twist, conservative Chief Justice John Roberts joined his liberal colleagues in temporarily blocking a Louisiana law that requires abortionists to have hospital admitting privileges.
Conservatives might hold out hope that Roberts’ decision was merely procedural and not a reflection of how he will ultimately vote on the case — especially considering Roberts’ support of a nearly identical Texas law that came before the Court three years ago.
However, Roberts’ loyalties have been held suspect ever since he infamously rescued Obamacare with a bizarre legal rationale that seemed concocted to achieve a foregone conclusion. Meanwhile, many in the pro-life movement have also expressed uncertainty over whether the newest justice, Brett Kavanaugh, will prioritize the unborn’s right to life over the Court’s longstanding custom of judicial precedence.
