A new Zogby Analytics poll shows President Donald Trump with a 51% approval rating, even amid reports that the U.S. could face recession in the near future and that Guatemala may be backing out of a deal to lessen the flow of illegal immigrants toward the U.S.
The poll is at odds with other recent surveys showing sliding approval for Trump. The new numbers show that Trump is riding a wave of a blockbuster economy and poor performances by Democrat 2020 candidates.
Republican job approval is very high in the poll, and Trump is gaining among minorities and Independents, two crucial demographics. The president is also gaining among younger voters.
If Trump wins half of Hispanics and a quarter of African Americans in 2020, Democrats will be in trouble!” Zogby wrote in his analysis.
Religious voters and those living in cities are also increasingly willing to declare their support for him.
