Shock Announcement – Former President Jimmy Carter Is…
A stunning announcement was just made about former President Jimmy Carter. Carter just became the longest-living president of the United States at 94-years-old. George H.W. Bush passed away in November at 94 years and 171 days, but Carter has now surpassed Bush by a day and counting.
Deanna Congileo, a spokeswoman for the Carter Center released a statement to NBC News marking the occasion. “We at The Carter Center are grateful for his long life of service that has benefitted millions of the world’s poorest people,” she said.
While Carter’s presidency left much to be desired, his legacy will likely be more about what he’s accomplished in the years after his time in the Oval Office. He has remained active in Habitat for Humanity, helping to build homes for those in need.
Despite being a liberal, Carter has always been able to tell it like he sees it, without much sugar-coating. He has even taken up for President Trump before. “The media have been harder on Trump than any other president,” he once said.
He couldn’t be more right. Even though there’s a world of difference between him and Trump, he has at least shown a desire to allow Trump to serve and mostly avoided criticizing our current president — something that can’t be said about Obama.
Most recently, Carter offered to help President Trump with North Korea. Though Trump did not take him up on this offer, it’s reasonable to assume that the President is grateful for Carter’s support on the issue.
And though we don’t agree with Carter on much, we do wish him well as he becomes the longest-living president.
