Ruth Ginsburg Health Announcement – I Knew It
Rumors have swirled for weeks about the actual health status of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who underwent surgery in late December of 2018 for lung cancer. Now, a breaking news update has confirmed the truth.
Ginsburg is back and churning out opinions at a rapid pace — and she even issued some while she was out. This is the best proof yet that the 85-year-old is mending quickly and can handle a full load of Supreme Court duties.
Since returning, she has written the court’s opinion on a civil asset forfeiture case, in which the Supreme Court overturned the ruling of a lower court that upheld an “excessive fine” against an Indiana man convicted of selling $400 of drugs to undercover cops.
The controversial fine was the confiscation of the convict’s $42,000 vehicle. Ginsburg wrote, “Protection against excessive fines has been a constant shield throughout Anglo-American history for good reason: Such fines undermine other liberties.”
Any political disagreements aside, all Americans can agree that it’s nice to see Ginsburg on the mend and actively working again. She has worked hard, even while battling cancer, to show Americans that she’s dedicated to serving them.
When asked recently about Ginsburg, President Trump simply said, “I hope that she’s healthy … I hope she’s happy … I hope she lives for a long time.” Even so, it will be interesting to see how much longer she chooses to remain on the court, given her age and health scare.
