Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MN) has decided that she would rather stick to her partisan boycott of Israel than see her grandmother for what could be the last time, the Washington Free Beacon reported.

Tlaib was granted special permission to visit her grandmother, who lives in the West Bank, after she and Rep. Ilhan Omar were told they would not be allowed into Israel. But Tlaib had said she would boycott Israel when she was barred from entering, and she has decided to stick with that boycott.

Tlaib seemed willing to abide by the restrictions put on her at first. “This could be my last opportunity to see her. I will respect any restrictions and will not promote boycotts against Israel during my visit.”

The visit would be allowed as long as Tlaib didn’t use it for the purpose of promoting her boycott of Israel, but Tlaib apparently didn’t like those conditions. “I can’t allow the State of Israel to take away that light by humiliating me & use my love for my sity to bow down to their oppressive & racist policies,” she said.

Tlaib and Omar have repeatedly referred to Israel as “Palestine,” a term used by those who oppose the existence of Israel. The two lawmakers also support Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) legislation that describes Israel as an apartheid state and alleges that it isn’t complying with international requirements.
