Nobel Peace Prize – It’s Happening
Former President Barack Obama received a Nobel Peace Prize for giving a few nice-sounding speeches. President Donald Trump may actually win one for making the world a better place.
As a result of Trump’s work to hold North Korea accountable and bring the rogue nation to the negotiating table, Japanese President Shinzo Abe has requested that Trump be considered for the prestigious honor.
For his part in this unfolding story, Abe has remained tight-lipped about the five-page letter he reportedly sent to the Norwegian Nobel Committee. “I’m not saying that it is not the fact,” he is quoted as saying.
Explaining his caution, Abe said that “the Nobel Committee has decided not to disclose nominators and nominees for 50 years. I would like to refrain from commenting on it, based on that fact.”
President Trump has freely discussed the matter and brought it up during a recent press conference: “Prime Minister Abe of Japan gave me the most beautiful copy of a letter that he sent to the people who give out a thing called the Nobel Prize.”
While the Nobel Peace Prize’s notoriety has somewhat diminished over the years, mostly due to the liberal make-up of the nominating committee, it will be difficult for them to ignore Trump’s historic progress on North Korea.
