Nancy Pelosi COLLAPSES – I knew it
In the latest example of leftist outrage devouring its own, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi caved to intense public pressure to call for the resignation of Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam.
Northam’s unforgivable sin was not his recent support of a state bill that would have radically loosened restrictions on aborting babies up till the moment of birth, nor was it the fact that his defense of the bill also seemed to endorse the killing of infants born alive.
Rather, the intolerable stain on the governor’s record turned out to be his 1984 medical school year book profile page, which featured a photo of a person in blackface posing with another in a Ku Klux Klan costume. Pelosi called the photo “racist and contrary to fundamental American values.”
The yearbook controversy points to two disturbing trends in the new “call-out” culture that has altered the ground rules of American public discourse. One, it illustrates how the targets of outrage are often minor points of etiquette and cultural expression that even the outraged people themselves once considered harmless. Two, it shows how no one is safe from the call-out mobs, regardless of party affiliation.
