Lindsey Graham Sends Dems Into Orbit With Just 1 Word
Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is seeking evidence that the Department of Justice plotted “what amounts to a coup” against President Trump.
Graham, who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee, sent a letter Friday to Attorney General William Barr requesting “all documents and communications” pertaining to alleged DOJ plans to record conversations with Trump and oust him by invoking the 25th Amendment.
“The Committee is deeply concerned with these discussions and whether they essentially indicate that two of the highest-ranking law enforcement officials in the United States were discussing what amounts to a coup against the President,” Graham said.
One of those officials, former acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe, confirmed last month that he and other DOJ heads considered using the 25th Amendment to depose Trump after the firing of former FBI Director James Comey.
The second official, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, claims he took McCabe’s suggestion as a joke.
Democrats on the Committee are equally eager for information about McCabe and Rosenstein’s private conversations, but for a different reason: They want to know what dirt the DOJ had on Trump.
