White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney just made a major announcement about President Trump’s tax returns.
Mulvaney declared that President Trump will not release the tax documents to congressional Democrats and that they’re wasting their time demanding the release.
Mulvaney was asked by Fox News Sunday when Trump will release the tax returns. Mulvaney fired back that “voters knew the president could have given his tax returns. They knew that he didn’t and they elected him anyway.”
Democrats have recently ramped up efforts to coerce Trump to release his tax returns. House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard Neal asked the IRS to disclose President Trump’s documents last week.
Mulvaney blasted Democrats for the move, saying that the IRS cannot legally release the documents for a “political hit job.”
Democrats have attempted to defend their actions, claiming that their agenda is “not political”, saying that all the other Presidents have “voluntarily shared them.” Mulvaney put that notion to rest, pointing out “that’s an issue that was already litigated during the election.”
