Done: Mitch McConnell Makes Sad Announcement…
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell takes a no-nonsense approach to legislative affairs in the U.S. Senate, and he just exerted his influence once again by issuing a devastating announcement from the Senate floor.
Scorching Democrats for a proposal that would, among other things, gut state control of elections and infringe upon free speech rights, McConnell refused to bring the bill to the floor for a vote and didn’t hold back his displeasure.
McConnell said: “Running roughshod over states’ and communities’ control of elections, regulating and chilling the American people’s exercise of the First Amendment, forcing taxpayers to indirectly donate to the politicians they don’t like, and a dozen other bad ideas to boot.”
“Behold, the signature legislation of the new House Democrat majority,” he continued, digging in even further. The House is expected to pass this bill, called the ‘For the People Act,’ as early as Friday, and McConnell plans to kill it in the Senate.
He also pointed out that the bill is meant to benefit just one side and is a gift Democrats are giving themselves. “By every indication, the Democrat Politician Protection Act is a massive partisan ‘solution’ in search of a problem,” McConnell said.
Unsurprisingly, far-left liberal and anti-Trump gadfly, Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY), took issue with McConnell’s characterization. “What a sad commentary on the Republican Party that they don’t want to see people vote and make it easier to vote,” he whined.
