Chuck Schumer Dug Himself Into A Deep Hole With This Video
There’s an old saying: If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging. That’s a lesson Democrat leader Chuck Schumer can’t seem to learn.
Schumer is currently holding the government hostage by refusing to even consider funding for a border wall. But yesterday, videos surfaced showing Schumer calling for strict border enforcement, funding for a border wall, and the criminalization of illegal immigration. The Blaze has the story:
In a 2009 video filmed at the 6th Annual Immigration Law and Policy Conference at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., Schumer declared that he would support a border fence spanning hundreds of miles at the U.S.-Mexico border for national safety.
He said the fence would be a “significant barrier to illegal immigration,” which he called “wrong, plain and simple.” He went on to criticize the politically correct terms used to discuss illegal immigrants.
“When we use phrases like ‘undocumented workers,’ we convey a message to the American people that their government is not serious about combating illegal immigration, which the American people overwhelmingly oppose,” Schumer said.
He added that people who enter the U.S. without proper credentials are “illegal aliens,” and “illegal aliens should not be treated the same as people who entered the United States legally.”
Schumer is trapped by his own words on this one. There’s no way that he can look the American people in the face and tell them that he’s sincere about the border shutdown after the release of the videos.
Will he admit he’s wrong, make a real deal with Trump, and fund the government? Or will he keep digging?
