BREAKING: Trump Just REPLACED Her – Nation In Shock
President Trump just made an announcement revealing that he’s already replaced outgoing Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen.
Nielsen abruptly resigned from her position on Sunday, after meeting with Trump at the White House.
The former DHS official announced her resignation in a tweet on Sunday evening, saying that “It’s been an honor of a lifetime to serve with the brave men and women of @DHSgov.” Nielsen declined to expand on the reason behind the sudden decision.
President Trump diplomatically confirmed Nielsen’s announcement on Twitter, and thanked her for her service. He then immediately revealed the identity of Nielsen’s acting successor, veteran border official Kevin McAleenan.
McAleenan has been the U.S. Customs and Border Protection commissioner since March of 2018. He also spent time as the deputy CBP commissioner during the Obama administration.
Few details have been released about the circumstances surrounding Nielsen’s abrupt resignation. However, President Trump confirmed his support of McAleenan’s new position, tweeting that “I have confidence that Kevin will do a great job!”
