Donald Trump has finally decided who is going to replace Heather Nauert as the State Department Spokeswoman.
Nauert resigned from the position after accepting Trump’s nomination to her as the next ambassador to the United Nations. Nauert also stepped down from that position before official confirmation in February, citing family concerns.
Sources close to the matter say that Trump has picked Fox News star Morgan Ortagus for Nauert’s old position at the State Department. Ortagus spent time at Fox News as a national security contributor, but the network just confirmed that she is no longer filling that role.
Ortagus has a diverse list of accomplishments. According to an NBC report, Ortagus is a former U.S. Naval Reserve officer and “would bring significant experience in national security and foreign policy to the role.”
Ortagus also served as a public affairs officer for the U.S. Agency for International Development and an intelligence analyst in President Obama’s Treasury Department.
The state department as not made an official announcement addressing the reports, but an official announcement is expected in short order.
