SHOCK ANNOUNCEMENT: He’s NOT Running In 2020 – It’s All Over
Republican Senator Lamar Alexander has announced that he will not run for re-election in 2020.
The Tennessee Senator announced his departure in a heartfelt statement on Monday. In the statement, he said that “it is time for someone else to have [the] privilege.”
Alexander was elected to the Senate in 2003. He served as chair of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, and enjoyed strong support from voters in his time on Capitol Hill.
This news comes as a shock to both constituents and colleagues, but contenders to fill the vacancy are already being floated.
