Vice President Mike Pence made an announcement on Twitter this Sunday that shows just how tragically low American politics have sunk.
Pence blasted the New York Times, which ran a virulently anti-Semitic cartoon that depicted President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu using anti-Jewish tropes.
The cartoon was clearly shocking, a fact that one of the Time’s own columnists, Bret Stephens, pointed out.
In an op-ed published online Sunday evening, Times columnist Bret Stephens took his employer to task, writing that the cartoon “in another age, might have been published in the pages of Der Stürmer,” a virulently anti-Semitic tabloid published during Germany’s Nazi regime.
Democrats and the media have left the antisemitic mask slip several times recently, most notably by supporting Ilhan Omar’s antisemitic comments this spring.
It’s not a shock that anti-antisemitism is taking over the left, but it is a tragedy.
