Israel launched airstrikes on Syria near Damascus Saturday, saying that the Syrian forces had planned to launch killer drones at Israel, according to the Daily Mail.

“The strike targeted Iranian Quds Force operatives and Shiite militias which were preparing to advance attack plans targeting sites in Israel from within Syria over the last number of days,” the Israeli military said in a statement.

The Syrian army claimed that most of the Israeli missiles were destroyed before they hit Syria, but that the few that made it through have caused damage to the area.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also hinted that Israel might be involved in a number of airstrikes over the last few weeks on Iraqi targets that they believed had Iranian backing.

The U.S. has denied allowing Israeli drones to enter Iraqi air space and the Pentagon has dismissed the report.
